As we all know, elephant is one of the largest animals on the planet. Its large trunk, ears, and tusks are more difficult to recreate on paper than they might appear. The good news is an elephant's thick straight legs are relatively simply to draw, even easier than that of a horse.
In this lesson we will learn how to draw an elephant in # 2 pencil.
Draw the basic outline.
First, draw the basic outlines of the elephant's body. Draw a large oval in the middle of your sheet of paper. It will serve as a basis for the body of an elephant. Next we will draw a small curved line for the neck of the elephant. Then add a circle for elephant's head.
The elephant's trunk.
Now you need to draw the general outline of the elephant’s trunk. Draw a long line from head. It will serve as a basis for the trunk of an elephant. Leave the trunk for now and draw two long ovals for the legs of the elephant.
General outline of an elephant.
Now we need to create a rough shape of an elephant. To do this, we add to our previously drawn tentative lines for the body, trink and the feet of our animal. We must define the contours of each body part.
Drawing the head of an elephant.
Now start to draw the head in detail. Finish working on the ear. Estimate the ear size such that it reaches the upper legs and occupies half of the elephant's body. Make the trunk more round. Add the eye in the middle of the head. Put a line connecting the eye to the trunk. From this line we draw tusks. Place a rounded crown of your elephant's head.
In this step we will start to draw the elephant's legs and trunk in detail. First draw an eye, as shown in the figure. Now try to draw the feet and trunk of the elephant in detail. Don't forget draw a tail.
Once you're almost finished with drawing the entire elephant step by step, draw the skin. In some places the elephant's skin has large wrinkles or small mesh.
Drawing an elephant. Final step.
Now you will add varying shades to your drawing of an elephant. Darken the distant parts of the body and the feet of an elephant. Also, shading the joints on elephant's body parts will make your drawing more realistic.
